Stretching along over 2000 miles it encompasses all possible climates, landscapes and cultures. Apart from the country’s archetypal points of interest: tango, soccer, beef and wine, there is a remarkable natural beauty which makes it one of the most diverse destinations in the region, if not the world, while being more affordable than Europe or the US.
Buenos Aires is a sizzling cosmopolitan city where passionate tango dancing finds its home. All the main museums have been restored after the 2010 anniversary of the first revolt against the Spanish colonial regime and the city is becoming greener with the new bike paths and the free bikes available in multiple spots. Dining is a treat, with the best new world wines available in every restaurant to go along with a wide variety of notable cuisines, ranging from the local grilled meats to French, Italian, Japanese, molecular, vegetarian.
The Pampas region is famous for its gauchos, the argentine cowboys, and its flat plains filled with the best polo horses in the world. Relaxing at one of the wonderful Estancias and enjoying long asados after a morning ride is a delight.
The Northwest region is known for its deserted scenery and the vivid Incan legacy. It feels like the time stood still while wandering in the little towns listening to its distinctive music and talking to the local people, The salt flats are definitely worth a visit.
The Iguazu area, although a major tourist destination year round, is still worth a visit. The awe inspiring falls nest hundreds of bird species and mammals, and could be combined with the Ibera wetlands, one of the largest water reservoirs in the world and home of caimans, jaguars and a very rich wildlife.
The central Andes of both Argentina and Chile are among the top wine destinations of the new world. Mountain activities are also at there best here, as are the highest peaks in the continent reaching almost 23000ft.
The Lakes region is known for its hiking trails and beautiful lakes and forests, but it is also a fantastic spot for fly-fishing enthusiasts, kayaking, rafting and golf.
Patagonia is known for its glaciers and granite peaks where, with crampons on, it is possible to walk and even climb on the millenary ice. Coastal Patagonia on the other side is the perfect spot for wildlife lovers, with whales, sea lions and elephants, albatross, ñandu (a type of ostrich), guanacos (a distant relative of camel) and thousands of penguins.
